SKILL GAPS

Why skill gaps feel personal, and how to close them calmly

5 minSkill GapsEveryone

A skill gap is not a character flaw. It is simply a distance between the work you want and the proof you currently have.

Name the gap precisely

Most people say they need to improve. That is too vague to act on. A useful gap sounds specific: I need to present findings clearly, write cleaner code, handle client objections, or analyse data without help.

Specific gaps become trainable. Vague gaps become shame.

Use proof-based learning

A course is useful only when it produces behaviour. Turn every learning goal into a visible output: a project, a memo, a demo, a portfolio entry, or a before-and-after example.

Employers and mentors cannot inspect your intention. They can inspect proof.

Make the gap smaller

Pick one gap for the next 30 days. Practise it three times a week. Ask one person for feedback. Repeat. Career growth often looks boring while it is happening.
